During the on-site residency period, fellows utilize knowledge and skills gained during the summer immersion training to process African American collections at their host repository. Fellows are required to organize at least one public program and one community outreach event (lecture, exhibit, etc.) and implement social media and/or other online resources, in accordance with their residency plans, which are developed in collaboration with their host repository during the Summer Immersion Program. Fellows are also expected to give presentations on their education and career choice to other students at the high school and undergraduate levels. Fellows are required to maintain a blog, including weekly blog entries of their experiences and progress throughout the fellowship. Fellows also prepare a poster presentation and/or panel entry for the SAA Annual Conference and are strongly encouraged to submit papers for presentation as a participant in a panel at other professional conferences such as ALA, MAC, New England Archivists, MARAC, Society of Southwest Archivists, etc.
