| University of Chicago | | Perhaps the more prestigious academic institution in the Midwest, the University of Chicago was founded in 1892 by John D. Rockefeller in the Hyde Park neighborhood on Chicago’s south side. Today the University boasts hundreds of well-known alums, including Jewel Lafontant MANkarious, Katherine Dunham, Saul Bellow and Phillip Glass. It is home to numerous cultural archives, museums and collections. |
