| Angelou, Maya | | Author, poet, actor, and film director Maya Angelou is hailed as one of the great voices of contemporary literature. She has published ten best selling books and numerous essays, earning her Pulitzer Prize and National Book Award nominations. At the request of President Clinton, Angelou wrote and delivered the poem "On The Pulse of Morning" at his 1993 presidential inauguration. Her screenplay Georgia was the first by an African American woman to be filmed. |
