On February 23, 2006, The HistoryMakers hosted the 5th installment of its Meet The HistoryMakers: A Day of Education at at the Merit School of Music in Chicago, Illinois. More than 40 HistoryMakers participated in panel discussions for 300 students and teachers. WVON held a live radio remote allowing attendees, HistoryMakers and students to talk directly to WVON listeners.
Meet The HistoryMakers: A Day of Education was conceived as a day of seminars designed to expose public school teachers, librarians and students to the educational resources created by The HistoryMakers, the nation’s largest African American video oral history archive.
Attendees experienced first person testimony from notable HistoryMakers, oral history workshops and training, computer labs and innovative and interactive curriculum. Meet The HistoryMakers: A Day of Education was truly a unique educational opportunity.
