An Evening with Ossie Davis and Ruby Dee

This hour-long interview provides a unique glimpse into the lives of actors and “National Treasures” Ossie Davis and Ruby Dee. Taped in Chicago in front of a live audience, the couple was interviewed by activist and scholar Angela Davis. Using footage taken throughout their lives, An Evening With Ossie Davis and Ruby Dee transports the audience into the lives of these two stars.

Ossie Davis and Ruby Dee

Ossie Davis and Ruby Dee, married for over fifty years, have long been at the forefront of civil rights, as well as being legendary for performances for both the stage and screen. With dozens of credits between the two of them, they have watched their careers grow, only to be blacklisted by Broadway and come back again stronger than ever. Throughout their careers, they supported with Martin Luther King, Jr., eulogized Malcolm X, traveled throughout Africa and hosted their own T.V. specials while continuing their successful film careers.

An Evening With Ossie Davis and Ruby Dee provides a fascinating inside look into the lives and careers of these two living legends.
