As part of this collection on June 16th 2001, five Negro League baseball players came to The HistoryMakers office in Chicago for a group interview. Negro Baseball League friend and supporter, Gary Crawford interviewed, Alvin Spearman, Henry “Hank” Presswood, Johnny Washington, Bobby “The Human Vacuum” Robinson, and Ted “Double Duty” Radcliff. These legendary figures shared stories about the teams they played for, i.e. the Chicago American Giants, their fellow players, like Satchel Paige, and the hardships they faced.
In addition The HistoryMakers videotaped life oral history interviews with Negro League Players Alvin Spearman, Henry “Hank” Presswood, Johnny Washington, Bobby “The Human Vacuum” Robinson, Ted “Double Duty” Radcliff, Charles Johnson, Carl Long, William Blair, Charley Pride, and Dennis Biddle.
