Indiana Appeals for Slavery
Then Governor William Henry Harrison of Indiana appeals to the U.S. Congress to allow slaves in Indiana. When that fails, indentured servitude is allowed, which allows for de facto slavery.

Ohio Outlaws Slavery
The constitution of the state of Ohio abolishes slavery. At the state constitutional convention, suffrage for black males was also voted on and passed, but was ultimately removed from the document.
